On November 5th, Wolverhampton Wanderers announced Julen Lopetegui as their new manager, more than a month after sacking Bruno Lage.
The Spaniard arrived at Molineux after parting ways with Sevilla in October and now wants to raid his former club in the winter market.
That’s according to Vamos Mi Sevilla FC, who say Wolves are one of four clubs chasing Marcos Acuña.
After making 14 appearances for the La Liga side this season, they have informed the left-back his services are no longer needed and asked him to find a new club.
The Argentina international’s agent is at work and has found four options; Villarreal, Wolves, Inter Milan and Eintracht Frankfurt. Among these teams, the Yellow Submarine are said to be ahead of others.
Acuña has a contract until 2025 and has a valuation of €14m. The Andalusian club hope to raise at least €12m from the defender’s sale in January.
Lopetegui knows the South American first hand from his time at Sevilla and this may give Wolves an advantage over other clubs, as long as the English side are genuinely keen to secure his services in the upcoming window.
