The deal between Benfica and Wolverhampton Wanderers for the new loan of Gonçalo Guedes should be official soon, according to reports from Portugal.
Newspaper O Jogo claim the transfer will be done in the ‘next few hours’, with the winger joining the Eagles until the end of the season.
The outlet writes that only minor details are being handled between Benfica and Wolves, as the Eagles will have to afford his entire wages, which are €5m per season.
Guedes had already been loaned to the Eagles in January, and due to his knee problems, he couldn’t perform as much as was expected.
That’s the main reason for this move, as besides Benfica wanting him again, Wolves can’t exactly find buyers right after the player had surgery.
O Jogo make it clear that there’s no date set for Guedes to play again, so he’ll be joining the Eagles’ squad and continue with this recovery for a while.
The 26-year-old’s contract with Wolves runs until 2027, and he’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €23m. This could be a crucial spell for the Molineux side to find a better solution next summer.
