Two days ago, Aston Villa target Mattéo Guendouzi revealed he had proposals to leave Marseille in the winter market but turned them down in order to finish the season in France.
Unai Emery, who had signed the midfielder for Arsenal from Lorient in 2018, was keen to reunite with him at Villa Park in January.
That didn’t happen and Aston Villa could be given a new chance to secure the 23-year-old’s services after this season, if a report from Le10 Sport is to be believed.
The France international impressed in the first half of this season and Didier Deschamps included him in Les Bleus’ squad for the World Cup.
French journalist Daniel Riolo told RMC Sport’s After Foot that the player will change clubs after this season.
“Guendouzi is the player who has been talked about the most for a departure, because his market value increased the most following his start to the season. He will leave at the end of this season. We suspected it and we announced it fairly quickly this year,” Riolo said.
After relaying the journalist’s comments, Le10 Sport state a return to the Premier League ‘could become clearer’ for Guendouzi, where Aston Villa are the mix to sign him.
Since they were ‘very interested’ in his profile in the last window, the report suggests the Villans could return to secure his services after this season.
This report comes a day after RMC Sport journalist Stéphane Guy stated Marseille coach Igor Tudor “doesn’t have high esteem of Guendouzi”.
