Chelsea loanee Hakim Ziyech has been ‘warned’ to be careful of international duty with Morocco, as Galatasaray need him for the title run-in in Turkey.
Milliyet cover the player today, explaining that he’s been warned to avoid over exerting himself during the international break.
Ziyech has been on loan with the Turkish side since the summer, joining from Chelsea until the end of the season in a deal that includes an obligation for Galatasaray to make it permanent if certain conditions are met.
He’s not been quite the key player that they had been hoping he would be, with just four goals and two assists in 15 games in all competitions so far this season.
Indeed, he’s featured in just 22% of the available minutes for Galatasaray this season, with them doing fine without him and currently sitting top of the table, two points clear of Fenerbahce in second after 29 games.
The international break, where he will be a key player for Morocco, could provide a welcome break from a disappointing campaign but Buruk has urged the Chelsea loanee not to overdo it, as he’s very much a part of his plans for the remainder of the season.
According Milliyet, the technical team at the Turkish side have ‘warned’ the loanee after he returned from the Africa Cup of Nations with an injury.
They told the Chelsea man “we have entered a very critical period in the league, and we will need you too”, essentially asking him to not overexert himself and potentially get injured again. Whether Ziyech listens to that advice remains to be seen.
