West Ham United are making a strong move to sign Girona captain Aleix Garcia, the Spanish media says.
Cadena Ser journalist Nil Sola writes that the Hammers have now submitted a big offer for the 26-year-old’s transfer.
There are no details about how much West Ham put on the table, but it’s said the bid is higher than Bayer Leverkusen’s, as the German side offered €16m.
Sola writes that even though the Hammers are not playing in any European competitions next season, so lose attraction that way, the personal terms are ‘very important’ to Garcia.
We should now wait and see if West Ham’s bid is that much higher than Leverkusen’s, as depending on the situation, Girona could end up accepting both bids and letting the player decided.
On Garcia’s side, it also remains to be seen if he’d take the Bundesliga champions, who’ll be in the Champions League, or the attractive salary offer from the Hammers and chance to compete in the Premier League.
The report highlights Julen Lopetegui’s name, so it sounds like this signing could be a request from the club’s new manager.
