As West Ham United are now in the middle of the battle for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, it seems the Hammers are actually heavily engaged in ths pursuit.
A new claim from the Italian media now says the London side have made an important bid to sign the 26-year-old, as they see him as a potential replacement for Declan Rice.
The news is brought by journalist Enzo Bucchioni on Radio Bruno. His quotes, featured by Fiorentina News, explain that while West Ham may have the money to get the signing done, they’ll need more than that.
“I have a feeling that the Amrabat situation will unblock itself soon, brother and agent are trying to bring the money and choose the team for the footballer. West Ham have offered €35m but the footballer doesn’t want to replace Rice,” said Enzo Bucchioni.
“Fiorentina does not give up and does not go below €30m. Fiorentina would gladly keep him, but by now the situation is clear and the Moroccan wants to leave. Having Amrabat come to train at Viola Park separated at home would be an unpleasant situation that is better resolved first and I think it will not happen.”
Amrabat has been linked to several clubs in the past months, and it’s no surprise that he’s willing to wait and see the real options he’ll have on the table before picking his next destination.
Now in case West Ham continue to be the only club who manage to satisfy Fiorentina, then the midfielder may not have other options, and given his wish to leave La Viola this summer, the Hammers could end up being the only alternative for him.
