William Carvalho should finally be able to leave Sporting this summer, report Jornal de Noticias.

In a big transfer splash this weekend, it’s claimed goalkeeper Rui Patricio and midfielder Carvalho, arguably the two most senior players at the club, will be allowed to leave for a combined €55m.

That’s €40m for Carvalho and €15m for the Portuguese stopper.

West Ham of course get a mention and their saga with Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho. It’s stated the Premier League club didn’t meet the €40m asking price last summer and that, regardless of anything else which happened, was why a transfer didn’t come off.

The ‘controversy’ of the West Ham saga hasn’t dropped the player’s price, believe JN, and it’s still €40m.

Maybe this is an opportunity for West Ham to solve two problems: Goalkeeper and midfielder.

Patricio is 30 years old and has been regarded as a top goalkeeper for some years now. He’s strongly linked with a move to Napoli but that isn’t completely done yet.

It’s worth considering, and the much vaunted, but little believed, new friendship between Sporting and West Ham would be useful.
