Even though Sporting are said to be in advanced talks to sign Zeno Debast from Anderlecht, West Ham United are still not forgotten in the race.
A fresh story on the dispute for the centre-back is today shared by Mais Futebol, who claims that the Lions are ‘well positioned’ to take the defender.
It’s said Sporting are about to sign Debast for something between €18m and €20m. Now they discuss with Anderlecht how this payment will be made, as it should be between €13m and €15m up front, plus €5m in bonuses.
Now even though the Lions are claimed to be ‘confident’ they will win the race, they’ve been reportedly told that West Ham ‘decided to enter the dispute’ for Debast.
The Hammers’ disadvantage is that Sporting are in the Champions League next season, besides the bigger possibility of playing in their thee-defender formation in Lisbon.
That defensive tactic is seen as a big positive for Sporting, presumably because three at the back would give Debast a better chance of starting.
Mais Futebol doesn’t bring any information on whether West Ham still have a chance to win this battle, while we must say the price for this transfer doesn’t sound prohibitive at all.
