West Ham need to stop messing around with Sampdoria over the Pedro Obiang transfer, because it feels like we’re writing the same story over and over again, just with different numbers each time.
On Monday, we covered a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, who stated the Hammers had increased their demands to €11m for the Spanish midfielder, just as the Serie A side felt an agreement was around the corner.
Tuesday’s edition of the same newspaper explains that Sampdoria increased their offer to €10.5m in order to try and get their man, but West Ham were having none of it, and their demands are now €12.5m.
We understand what Manuel Pellegrini’s new side are trying to do, it’s just really annoying to report on, seeing as it gets a bit repetitive for both readers and writers.
Over at Il Secolo XIX, the local Genoa newspaper, the line is somewhat similar, explaining the Serie A side don’t want to go much higher than the €9m already offered (both outlets have always had different figures) for a player they sold for €7m back in the day.
Obiang is reportedly continuing to apply pressure on West Ham to let him go, but unless they cave, he isn’t going anywhere.
Furthermore, other clubs appear to be circling, and Sampdoria do not want to get involved in a bidding war.
It’s entirely up to West Ham, at this stage.
