A couple of weeks ago, AS Monaco’s interest in signing West Ham United’s Edson Alvarez was continually popping up in the French rumour mill.

For a small period of time there appeared to be some confidence in the French principality that the Hammers could let the midfielder leave during the January window.

That confidence quickly faded away and now Monaco are moving for a different Premier League player. That has seen them turn to Leicester City, report L’Equipe.

On Thursday afternoon, the French newspaper bring a story stating Monaco are considering signing Wilfred Ndidi on loan from Leicester City with an option to buy.

The 28-year-old can provide the experience the Ligue 1 club are said to be looking for, and it’s claimed Ndidi would not be against a move to Monaco in the coming days.

No offer has been made to Leicester City at this stage, indeed it doesn’t even sound like the Foxes have been contacted.

Ndidi was a much used part of the Leicester City squad before he picked up his hamstring injury and that’s likely to be the case when he returns.

AS Monaco, therefore, may find the signing harder than L’Equipe appear to believe.
