AC Milan are eyeing up West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca to reinforce their forward line this summer as the Irons ‘appear willing to loan’ the striker.

That’s according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the Italian club are planning to step up their efforts for the signing.

They explain that the club’s efforts to find an alternative to Olivier Giroud last summer have not worked out, with neither Divock Origi nor Ante Rebic working out as hoped.

Thus, they need to move to add a striker to their squad although everything at the moment is just exploratory as no budget has been defined.

One potential option could be Scamacca, who joined West Ham in a big money move last year but has been unable to shine in the Premier League.

Milan chief Ricky Massara knows the player well after watching him ‘blossom’ in Italy and Milan’s hierarchy even ‘courted him’ during his time at Sassuolo. That never happened when they baulked at the €40m asking price.

He ended up moving to West Ham for the same price but that hasn’t worked out and he now appears to be out of favour at the London Stadium.

In fact, West Ham are ‘on the hunt’ for another striker and now ‘appears willing to loan’ the player, if they cannot find a permanent exit, in an attempt to re-value him down the line.
