Antonio Rudiger has 90 minutes of Premier League action for Chelsea this season, with that coming against Newcastle United in November.

The defender has been given opportunities by Frank Lampard in the Champions League, but it’s clear he’s not a key component of the manager’s plans with the Blues.

Transfer talk has been around for months, with the Italian media reporting on interest from clubs in Serie A. Most sides looking to move for the player in January would be keen on a loan deal, and should Chelsea agree to an exit it’ll be a case of taking the best deal available for the club and the player.

At 27-years-of-age and with a contract expiring in June 2022, Rudiger will be aware he’s likely looking to build an opportunity which will bring the last big contract of his career, and it’s not the best time in recent years to be doing so.

He spoke to ZDF in Germany over the weekend and made his feelings clear, with SportBuzzer quoting him as saying: “I cannot be satisfied with my situation at Chelsea.”

Rudiger said he’s never been in a similar situation in his career, and when it came to a January exit, he added: “We’ll see if it comes to this.”
