Napoli director of football Giovanni Manna has confirmed that Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho is a transfer target this month.
Gianluca di Marzio provides comments from the Napoli chief today in which he confirms the Manchester United winger is on his list.
Reports throughout this month have put Napoli at the front of the queue for Garnacho as they seek to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after he left to join Paris Saint Germain.
Talks with Manchester United have been ongoing for the best part of two weeks, with the Premier League side seeking €70m for their man. They want as big a sale as possible to help them in terms of PSR.
Napoli, though, are not willing to go that high as yet, with it reported today that their limit is €50m at this moment in time.
Garnacho, for his part, is believed to be keen on the move. A report earlier this month stated he had been convinced of it by former Manchester United teammate Scott McTominay, and it was claimed today he would put pressure on United to sanction the deal.
Now Manna has gone public with his and his side’s transfer interest but insisted that they won’t pay an out of market figure for the Argentine international.
“Adeyemi and Garnacho are two names that interest us, that we like,” he said.
“They are not the only ones; we will try to evaluate the opportunities. We will certainly not pay prices outside the market.
“We need to replace Kvara, a transfer for the player’s will. We are not holding back. We also have other ideas, let’s see what happens in the next few days.”
