Watford

History

Founded in 1881 as Watford Rovers, the club became Watford FC in 1898 and joined the Football League in 1920, moving to Vicarage Road in 1922. The club is famously associated with singer Elton John, who became chairman in 1976 and appointed Graham Taylor, leading to a rise from the fourth to the first division.
