Watford have joined the race to sign Ajax youngster Danilho Doekhi according to reports in the Italian media. The defender has already been linked with a moves Middlesbrough, West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion.
TMW have today claimed Watford are the latest English club to take an interest in Doekhi following the 18-year old’s displays for Ajax’s reserve team this season.
It’s been revealed Watford recently travelled to the Netherlands to watch the central defender in action for Jong Ajax, and the club’s owners the Pozzo family are keen on the player.
However, they will face competition from the other Premier League sides tracking the young defender.
Doekhi came from the Excelsior youth system, and only joined Ajax in the summer transfer window. The Netherlands youth international already has senior experience after making his debut in the Dutch League last season during Excelsior’s clash with AZ.
Doekh has been capped 6 times by the Netherlands U18s.
