Manchester City didn’t have their name on the list of clubs who sent scouts to the Europa League match between Benfica and Dinamo Zagreb last night. But it doesn’t mean they didn’t have a representative at the Estádio da Luz.

As reported by newspaper Record, the Premier League side sent their director Txiki Begiristain to Lisbon, where he ‘took notes’ from what he saw during the Eagles’ 3-0 win.

Record says Begiristain watched the game from a VIP box. They don’t know what he was doing there, and recall two players who have recently been linked to Manchester City: João Félix and Alex Grimaldo.

João Félix, who Record makes sure to say is being disputed by Manchester United and Juventus, had a good game last night. Although he didn’t get inside the box much, he was still responsible for creating spaces and plays for the home side.

Record call him ‘tireless’ in their match report today.

Grimaldo was only brought on in the second half, and showed why he’s so important for the team. The left-back had a great impact in the Eagles’ attacking plays, and crowned his performance with an unbelievable goal in extra time.

Begiristain could of course be watching some targets other than those two, but it’s hard to think of other Benfica players who would suit Manchester City’s game.
