Feyenoord director of football Tim de Kloese has insisted he has no intention of selling Antoni Milambo, and not for the €16m quoted for Brentford either.
1908.nl cover comments from De Kloese today as the pull back on his potential move to Brentford continues to happen.
Milambo appeared to be on the verge of a move to Brentford last week as it was reported they were moving quickly to wrap up a deal for him.
The Bees had reportedly met with Milambo to discuss his wage demands, which they were happy to match, and a second meeting even took place in London to finalise those plans.
It was then reported that Feyenoord were waiting for a bid to arrive, with a deal worth around €16m expected for the midfielder. All indications were it would be done quickly, and he’d become Brentford’s first signing of the summer.
Then something of a turnaround happened. It was first reported that Milambo was having a wobble regarding the move, then various journalists, analysts and the like commented on how it would be a major disappointment to see him make the move to Brentford.
That was followed by claims that Milambo had no intention of moving and now, almost inevitably, De Kloese is pouring cold water all over the idea too.
“Milambo is not for sale. We are not going to give away our greatest talent for €16m,” he is quoted as saying, a sentiment shared by manager Robin van Persie
“I want Milambo to stay,” he added.
“I know how it works; it depends on the clubs and also on the player. I don’t know how he feels about it either. I deliberately left him alone. We’ll see how that goes.”
