Manchester United would have no problem writing a cheque for €50m to sign Kim min-Jae from Napoli next summer.
That’s according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, who says United wouldn’t be bothered by paying a big sum for the centre-back.
Kim has made a big impression in Naples after arriving from Fenerbahce in the summer as a replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly.
His performances have been earning him rave reviews and admirers from around Europe, with reports recently naming Manchester United as one of the interested parties.
It’s since been explained that the player does indeed have a €50m release clause in his contract, although that does not activate until the summer transfer window next year and there is no option to sign him in the January window.
Either way, Manchester United are known to be interested in his signature and Pedulla believes they would have no issue paying the clause for such a ‘quality’ player.
“Napoli paid the clause of around 20 million and knew they had made a bargain,” Calcio Napoli 24 report him saying.
“If they put the Korean on the market today, they would collect more than double that. It is no coincidence that there is talk of strong interest from Manchester United, a club that – market history tells us – has often paid exorbitant sums for a central defender.
“For the Red Devils, it would be no problem to prepare a cheque for 50 million, euro or sterling changes little, to try to solve the remaining problems with another investment.
“Napoli have inserted a 50 million clause valid from next summer and not from January, contrary to some baseless rumours circulating in Turkey.”
