Manchester United and Benfica are now sorting the final details of Alvaro Fernandez’s move to the Eagles, according to reports from Portugal.
Newspaper A Bola today writes that the negotiations remain advanced, with the Lisbon side willing to present the player on Monday.
The deal is said to be ‘practically closed’, with Alvarez being loaned by Manchester United until the end of the season, and Benfica holding a €6m buying option.
There was a bit of a hurry to get that done, because the Red Devils had until the 15th of January to get him back from Granada, where he had been spending a temporary spell.
That was already done, and Benfica even asked that the fullback didn’t play for the Spanish side this weekend.
According to A Bola, the Eagles plan to trigger the release clause and buy Alvarez from Manchester United at the end of the season.
Benfica reportedly already sorted the final details for the player to move to Lisbon, and he’s set to arrive in the Portuguese capital this Sunday, soon being available to start playing for them.
The €6m figure will be boosted by bonuses and a potential percentage on a future sale, meaning Manchester United would have an advantage when trying to buy him back.
