In the past few days, several reports from the Italian media claimed that Fiorentina are keen on the signing Bryan Gil from Tottenham Hotspur.
It’s no secret La Viola are looking to strengthen their attack this winter, and the Spurs outcast was revealed as one of their options on the table.
It turns out that as website FirenzeViola today shares a story with fresh information on Fiorentina’s transfer market, they claim Gil may not be what they’re looking for.
The outlet first confirms that the Tottenham player is one of the ‘latest ideas’ at the Serie A side, but points out he’s ‘not capable of significantly raising the quality level’, at least not on paper.
Fiorentina want to improve to a point where they can get a place in the Champions League, and that means they’d need someone who’s been showing he can help them at that level.
Gil has no goals and no assists in 207 minutes for Tottenham this season, and that makes him a question mark with absolutely no guarantee of success. That’s why La Viola may look elsewhere, at least to be the main signing of the January window.
