Tottenham Hotspur have a ‘strong desire’ to sign Lille star Renato Sanches, according to reports coming out of France.
The 23-year-old struggled with injuries that kept him out of action for two months midway through last season.
After regaining full fitness, the midfielder continued to shine for the Ligue 1 side and that helped him make it to Portugal’s squad for Euro 2020.
Sanches’ fine displays for his country at the UEFA tournament caught the attention of ‘prestigious’ clubs, according to Le10 Sport.
This includes Spurs and the outlet adds the north London club are also ‘thinking’ of Lyon’s Houssem Aouar for this summer, along with Sanches.
So far, Nuno Espírito Santo’s side have not sent a concrete offer to Lille for the Portugal international, but their ‘interest is real’ in the former Bayern Munich man.
Apart from Tottenham, Barcelona are ‘very interested’ in Sanches, but they cannot consider making an effort over due to their poor economic conditions.
With Tottenham having a ‘real’ interest in the player, they could get ahead of other suitors by making an offer that can convince Lille to sanction Sanches’ sale.
