Clement Lenglet’s situation at Tottenham Hotspur today gets an interesting update from the Spanish media.
With the centre-back loaned by Barcelona until the end of the season, Spurs would now need an agreement with the Catalan side to make the move permanent.
Fichajes writes that Lenglet has managed to become an important player for Tottenham, and that’s why they shall try that deal with Barça.
It’s claimed that an agreement between clubs wouldn’t be a major issue. That’s because the La Liga giants set a price of around €20m for the sale, and Spurs ‘seem willing to pay’.
The most complicated issue would be to convince the player. That’s because even though Lenglet is ‘interested in staying in London’, he has some concerns regarding Tottenham’s future.
According to Fichajes, the player has ‘paused’ the negotiations for now, as he’d like to meet the club’s next manager to speak about his plans.
Lenglet reportedly wants ‘a team with aspirations and a solid project’, and will only be sure of that at Spurs once he talks to the new boss. So it should still take a while until the club can move forward with his signing.
