Tottenham are likely to be among the clubs keeping an eye on Sporting Club de Portugal midfielder Manuel Ugarte during the World Cup.
That’s according to A Bola, who cover the midfielder today and the ‘impressive growth’ he’s been showing in recent years.
They say that the midfielder is ‘always skipping steps to the top’, having gone from his early days in Uruguay at 15 to a deserved call up for the World Cup.
His performances have made him ‘one of the most promising’ midfielders in Uruguay’s squad, with him and Facundo Pellistri the only youngsters from the 2001 generation to feature.
He is in the running for a starting role, such has been his rise and impressive performances for Sporting and the ‘giants will be watching’ how he performs.
He has already been linked to several clubs around Europe and is one of the ‘most coveted’ in Sporting’s current squad.
Tottenham are one of those to have shown an interest, with a report in September making it clear they had made contact about him.
That was followed by a claim of ‘harassment’ from Spurs for the player and they are again name-checked by A Bola today as one of the ‘many eyes’ that will be on him in Qatar.
