Tottenham Have reportedly joined the race for the signing of Sporting star Pedro Gonçalves.
Newspaper Record today writes that the midfielder, better known as Pote, has drawn Spurs’ attention in the Champions League and became a summer target for them.
Tottenham are now set to have a scout in Turin to see the player facing Juventus in the Europa League’s quarter-final.
It’s said Spurs want to ‘fix the past mistakes’ from this season and, as soon as the new manager is found, they will ‘present’ him with a list of transfer targets, with Pote included there.
According to Record, Tottenham already gathered initial information on the player and should now fight for the signing.
Down their end, Sporting will do their best to hold their star, and knowing that 50% of his transfer goes to his former club Famalicão, they’re unlikely to give away big discounts from his €80m release clause.
The newspaper points out that besides having signed Pedro Porro and now pursuing Pote, Spurs are also interested in Lions’ midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
So it seems the London side got really impressed when facing them in the Champions League this season.
