Jose Mourinho needs a striker.
The manager has made his wish clear, and it’s now Tottenham’s job to make sure they get someone in before the window closes. If they don’t, and Spurs start the season poorly, then there’s the potential for Mourinho to go into full sulk mode and use the issue throughout the campaign.
In recent weeks, the club have been linked with Napoli’s Arkadiusz Milik. On Wednesday we covered claims from Italy that Tottenham are leading the way for the Poland international, and on Thursday it was claimed Spurs have made contact over the signing in recent days.Â
The 26-year-old has refused to renew with Napoli, and his relationship with the club is said to be beyond repair. With a contract expiring in June 2021, the Serie A side need to sell, and it’s likely they’ll need to come down from their €40m valuation.
Milik is expected to be left out of Napoli’s upcoming friendlies, with the club wanting to avoid him picking up an injury. Last season he played 35 matches and scored 14 times, and the season before he found the back of the net 20 times in 47 matches.
There’s a deal to be done here which could suit everyone involved.
