Tottenham have been warned that Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié will be ‘really expensive’ and could soon be worth even more.
That’s according to BILD, who cover Tottenham’s interest in the centre-back today and how Leverkusen are not concerned about it.
Spurs have been linked with the defender over the last few days, with an initial report on the 28th explaining that they tried to sign him in the summer and remained keen on him.
That was followed by a claim the following day that made it clear Tottenham were ready to ‘burn the competition’ for the player and studying the possibility of a bid in the January transfer window.
BILD cover that today, stating that Leverkusen are ‘aware’ of the ‘great international interest’ in their player but are not concerned about it.
In fact, there is ‘no reason for the club to worry’ about the reported interest as the defender is tied down to a contract until 2026.
That gives the German side enough protection as it is but an extension to that deal is also possible and that would make Hincapié ‘really expensive’.
Tottenham, then, may be wise to make their move now before Leverkusen can get a possible extension signed, with the defender already a costly acquisition and potentially set to get more expensive in the near future.
