Roma are looking to sell defender Roger Ibanez this summer with Tottenham interested but yet to get close to their valuation of the player.
That’s according to Giallorossi.net, who say Tottenham are one of the ‘several admirers’ that Ibanez has around Europe this summer.
The Italian side are happy to make a sale and have earmarked the defender as one of the players they can make money from this year, particularly after Tammy Abraham’s injury on the last day of the season.
Ibanez’s agents are ‘scanning the market’ and Roma chief Tiago Pinto has given them a mandate to find concrete offers, with his asking price set at an initial €40m with the proviso he’d be happy at €30-32m.
That’s far from what anyone is willing to pay at this moment in time, though, and Tottenham in particular want to spend a ‘maximum of €20m’ on the player if they can.
Thus, no real negotiation for a transfer has taken place as yet and Roma are waiting for raises from those involved as they don’t want to sell off a young player with great potential in a deal they would consider cheap.
Whether Tottenham will increase their ceiling or move on remains to be seen but at the moment there is at least €10m between them and Roma stopping even basic negotiations from taking place.
