As Tiago Pinto travelled to London on Monday, everyone was expecting a bunch of meetings to take place, and that’s exactly what happened, according to Corriere Roma.
One of them was said to be with Tottenham, as the Premier League club are interested in Roger Ibañez to bolster their defence.
The AS Roma centre-back is one of the more expendable players in the squad as the club look to make some capital before the end of the month, but Spurs seemed reluctant to match the demands.
A report on Monday suggested Ben Davies could be used as a makeweight in the deal, as he has the affection of José Mourinho from when the two worked together at Tottenham, and that’s what is happening.
Corriere Roma explain Pinto has ‘meetings to sell’ a few players, including Ibañez, who has interest from Ange Postecoglou’s side.
In fact, Tottenham are ‘trying to offer the Welsh left-back Ben Davies in a partial exchange’, meaning the new manager is happy to make do without the 30-year-old next season.
In return, he would be getting Ibañez, although whether this is a deal AS Roma will accept, we’ll have to wait and see.
