Tottenham Hotspur are today again mentioned in the race for Villarreal defender Pau Torres.

The rumours this time come from Italy, where Turin newspaper Tuttosport highlights Juventus’ interest in the player.

The outlet points out that despite Torres’ €65m release clause, Villarreal may have to drop that request because of his contract expiring next year.

Juventus reportedly already made first contact, but should worry about the competition for the signing, and that’s where Tottenham are brought in.

It’s said Spurs had already been interested in Torres in the past and ‘could try again’ this summer. They’re not the only club who are set to compete for his signing, as ‘half of Europe’ are said to be keen as well.

With Torres willing to ‘take the next step’ this summer, it then becomes harder for Villarreal to manage to hold him.

Last week, we covered Spanish outlet Cadena Ser also speaking of Tottenham’s interest, claiming Spurs are one of the clubs who have ‘all the numbers’ to make the signing possible. Now it seems they better worry about Juventus as well.
