On April 5th, claims from Austria stated Tottenham Hotspur are expected to make an offer to sign Red Bull Salzburg star Noah Okafor in the summer.

This report surfaced before he picked up an injury, which has forced him to go under the knife and miss the remainder of this season.

Fast forward to May and Salzburger Nachrichten state the 21-year-old has been observed by scouts of several European teams for months. He’s ‘poised to take the next step’ of his career, where Tottenham could be an option.

Recent claims have talked about Leeds United interest in the Switzerland international. This is relayed by the newspaper, who then explain the Whites will have to face a ‘lot of competition’ from Spurs, AC Milan and Inter Milan to secure his services.

Okafor’s contract expires in 2024 and he doesn’t want to sign an extension with the Austrian club. This, coupled with his decision to change agents recently, indicates a move could be on the cards in the next window, despite his current injury situation.

Red Bull Salzburg, for their part, are hoping to collect €20-25m from the forward’s sale in the summer.

It needs to be seen if Tottenham are ready to invest on Okafor, who is expected to regain full fitness in June or July.

Okafor has 10 goals and five assists from 32 matches this season.
