Newcastle United and Barcelona are set to battle it out for Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozović in the summer.
That’s according to Fichajes.net, who state the Serie A side are willing to listen to offers for the midfielder in the summer even though he has a deal until 2026.
When discussing his suitors, it’s claimed both Newcastle and Barca are showing interest to sign him.
Sergio Busquets, 34, has a deal expiring at the end of this season. Xavi Hernández wants to bring in a replacement for him and has identified the Croatia international as the target.
Newcastle ‘want to take away the signing’ of the 30-year-old from the Catalan club and will ‘go with everything’ to get the deal over the line in the next window.
It’s said Eddie Howe’s side view Brozović as an ‘ideal’ candidate to become a ‘guaranteed partner’ for Bruno Guimarães in the middle of the pitch.
Brozović’s experience and qualities could help Newcastle aim to challenge for the title and compete in the Champions League next season.
