According to a claim in the Turkish media, Tottenham Hotspur are looking to step in their pursuit of Fenerbahce defender Yusuf Akçiçek, and have even contacted Jose Mourinho.
The 19-year-old has recently been linked with a move to the Premier League side after impressing for the Istanbul club this season.
A Spor have reported on the latest developments regarding Tottenham’s interest in the young central defender, and they say the English club are looking to make a move to sign him at the end of the season.
It’s claimed Spurs have contacted Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho to get more information about the player after a positive report from the English club’s scouts.
However, it’s reported the Super Lig club will not allow Akçiçek to leave on the cheap this summer and it will take a substantial offer to sign him.
Tottenham should also expect to face competition in the race to sign the youngster with Manchester United and Lille also said to be monitoring the situation.
Akçiçek has made 18 appearances for Fener this season, scoring two goals. He’s contracted to the Yellow Canaries until June 2028.
