If there’s one club in the Premier League that has most been linked with Nicolo Zaniolo over the years, it’s Tottenham.

It started even before Fabio Paratici arrived, back when José Mourinho was in charge, and has continued ever since, doubling in strength after the Italian combination of the director of football and Antonio Conte was created.

In the meantime, Zaniolo has continued to play for AS Roma, where his contract expires in 2024, but there are struggles to renew that, which has obviously caught the attention of Tottenham.

Their interest is reported almost on a weekly basis, and far more often during the transfer windows, but Thursday has seen a huge uptick in stories, as it appears a transfer could be on the cards in January.

We’ve already covered some stories from the Italian media that Tottenham are allegedly the first candidate and have made an offer, although it is of a loan with an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met.

Either way, Gazzetta dello Sport offer a fresh angle on the matter, explaining that Zaniolo ‘wants to be sold immediately’, which means he could ‘say goodbye to everyone soon’, even ‘before the end of January’.

Tottenham are named among the interested parties, and because he isn’t ‘performing as expected’ on the pitch either, AS Roma are open to the idea of letting him go.

They want to cash in, and the ‘current valuation fluctuates between €35-40m’, and while offers have not yet arrived, ‘there have been expressions of interest’.

It’s not specifically said that Spurs are among those, but if Paratici has come forward as reported elsewhere, they certainly must be.
