Tottenham’s talks to sign Gift Orban from KAA Gent ‘will further accelerate this week’ as they step up their efforts to find a replacement for Harry Kane.
That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says the 21-year-old is ‘the most likely’ player at Gent to be sold this summer.
Tottenham are working to find a replacement for Kane before the end of the transfer window in two weeks’ time after their club record goal scorer and captain departed for Bayern Munich last Friday.
Orban appears to be at the top of their wish list and a report earlier today indicated confidence a deal could be done, with work underway to make it happen.
Tavolieri follows that up and explains Gent have made it clear they only intend to sell one of Hugo Cuypers and Orban this summer and, the most likely to depart at this point is the Nigerian striker.
That’s a boost for Tottenham If anything and the ‘ongoing discussions’ with them over a transfer are set to further accelerate this week.
Whether that means an agreement can be struck remains to be seen but it seems Tottenham are pushing nonetheless now that the Kane saga is in the rearview mirror.

🇳🇬 Au vu des discussions en cours avec #Tottenham – qui vont encore s’accélérer cette semaine – le départ le plus probable est celui du buteur Nigérian. #JPL #KAAGent pic.twitter.com/UOR00i1xKf— Sacha Tavolieri (@sachatavolieri) August 15, 2023
