Tottenham Hotspur were regularly named as the contender over signing Atalanta’s Ruslan Malinovskyi in the last transfer window.
Antonio Conte’s side or another club failed taking the 29-year-old away from the Serie A side.
Earlier claims coming out of Italy had stated that Malinovskyi’s ‘greatest hope’ was to join Tottenham in the summer. This was backed up by Tutto Atalanta in September, who said he had preferred a move to the north London club.
The attacking midfielder continues to get linked with a move away from the Italian club and Spurs are named as one of his suitors for the winter market.
According to Calciomercato, Tottenham have already taken the first step to sign the player by making contact with Atalanta president, Antonio Percassi.
It’s said Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are ready to part ways with the Ukraine international in the next window if they were to receive an offer not less than €30m. If this were to happen, then the former Genk man needs to be convinced for the transfer to take shape.
Therefore, with Malinovskyi having favoured a move to Tottenham in the summer, Spurs seem to have an advantage to sign him in January.
