Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race for Montpellier striker Elye Wahi, according to reports from France.
Foot Mercato today writes that Spurs are one of the many clubs who are interested in the 20-year-old, and even sent a representative to watch the player in person recently.
The problem is that Montpellier are not interested in letting the player go in the winter, as they know he’s their best player, with a market value of over €30m, and don’t plan to sell him to Tottenham or anyone else.
The story claims that besides French clubs, the likes of Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United all want Wahi, with Arsenal also following his recent performances with attention.
That means Tottenham are about to have big competition for his signing, and for now, it isn’t explained whether they already made a move, despite the recent observations.
Wahi has seven goals and one assist in 18 appearances in Ligue 1 this season.
By doing that at the age of 20, even the more powerful French clubs would like to have him signed very soon, and that’s a way he could take before making a move to the Premier League.
