Tottenham will have to ‘really convince’ Real Madrid to let them loan Arda Güler in the summer, although they do have one major advantage.

That’s according to journalists Sergio Santos and Alfredo Matilla, who cover Güler today and how a move to Tottenham may be possible.

A report earlier this week made it clear Tottenham are queuing early to try and sign the highly rated 18-year-old, with Real Madrid willing to do a deal for him under certain circumstances.

That report stated Spurs, as well as Bayer Leverkusen, were eyeing a loan deal for the striker and Madrid would be willing to let him go if they can find a team who guarantees him minutes.

Santos and Matilla continue on that line today, explaining that while Madrid are not worried about Güler and his lack of minutes for now, accepting that he would need a period of adjustment, they do accept the need to do something in the future.

The belief is that he needs to bulk up and become physically stronger, an area they’ve identified as a weak point in his game. It was a similar situation for the likes of Brahim Diaz and Rodrygo, who both gained weight without losing their speed or skill.

The former did that as part of his loan deal to AC Milan and Madrid are now weighing up whether that would be the best solution for Güler.

If it is decided that a loan would be best, then Madrid want to ensure that Güler does not take a step backwards and can continue his development.

Any suitors would have to ‘really convince’ the Spanish side and the player’s entourage that he can really enjoy regular minutes and play in a system that would see him flourish.

They want a team that is ‘committed to attractive football’ and has room for midfielders in their squad, both of which Tottenham could certainly guarantee following their performances under Ange Postecoglou this season.

Whether that means he ends up at Spurs remains to be seen, but it seems the idea of loaning Güler out is gaining strength at Madrid at Tottenham may have an advantage if that door is opened.
