Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga is about to join Torino, according to the latest reports from the Italian media.
CalcioMercato.it claims an agreement has been reached in the last few hours, and the player is moving on loan with an option to buy.
It’s said that Tanganga had the option to leave Tottenham and move to clubs such as Everton, Luton Town and Lyon. Still, he preferred to move to Torino.
The outlet doesn’t say how much the Serie A side will be paying Spurs in case they choose to buy the player at the end of the season. It’s claimed that just a final ‘ok’ from the Italian side is missing.
Tanganga hasn’t had a single minute for Tottenham under Ange Postecoglou, and given the little time he had on the pitch last season, it was clear he wouldn’t be in the club’s plans.
Since his contract with Spurs runs until 2025, there’s actually a pretty good chance he returns to the club next summer, especially because Italian sides love trying to negotiate purchases for prices below the pre-agreed purchase clause.
We shall see more about that next year.
