It’s fair to say that while Radu Dragușin’s performances for Genoa are what will have convinced Tottenham to buy him, he does also have an undeniable hype man in the form of his agent, Florin Manea.
Clearly very excited at being involved in such a big transfer for his client, the representative has been talking to a lot of media outlets about the deal, perhaps even saying more than he should have.
That’s what journalist Ovidiu Ioanițoaia has to say in a column for GSP, where he suggests the Tottenham player’s agent may need to keep some thoughts to himself going forward.
For example, Manea was very open about the possibility of his client using Spurs as a stepping stone, with clubs such as Barcelona and Real Madrid the ultimate goal for the Romania international.
This, for Ioanițoaia, was a big no-no, who wrote: “Clearly, Florin Manea spoke before thinking. He let the cat out of the bag that there are things you can think about, some of which are true, but which you must keep to yourself. You can’t tell them in public. Honesty is not recommended in all circumstances.”
He recalls that Tottenham fans weren’t overly happy with Manea’s comments, and some even asked the centre-back to drop his agent as soon as possible.
While ‘that’s not going to happen’, since Manea is part of the reason why Dragușin is now a Spurs player, the agent is warned by Ionaițoaia that this is all he can afford.
He continued: “Manea must understand that he and his player have entered a world where one blunder is allowed. At most one. Repeat its and you pay dearly. More than it is worth.”
