Sergio Reguilón spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Sevilla and his impressive displays convinced Tottenham Hotspur to buy him from Real Madrid in 2020.
The left-back enjoyed a good debut season in England, before losing prominence at the north London club, following Antonio Conte’s arrival last year.
Conte left the 25-year-old out of the squad for Tottenham’s pre-season trip to South Korea and this indicates his future could be far away from the Premier League side.
Marca now explain that the Spain international is the ‘desired’ target for Sevilla sporting director, Monchi.
Sevilla see Reguilón as the ‘main option’ to strengthen their left-back position, after letting Ludwig Augustinsson join Aston Villa on a loan deal. The former Real Madrid man’s wages at Tottenham is something the Andalusian club cannot afford, but they believe playing time is in their favour.
This, coupled with the player’s will to return to his former club, where he was happy on and off the pitch, may help them carry out his signing this summer.
Julen Lopetegui’s side are looking to take Reguilón on loan. If this deal goes through, Marca state ‘the leap forward for Sevilla on the left side would be enormous’.
