He has been shipped out on a number of loans, with an expectation it would happen again this year, but that wasn’t to be, as the Spaniard is currently trying to convince Ange Postecoglou to use him, to no avail.

They recall how Gil was determined to stay in London to prove his worth this time around, and didn’t want to leave in January on another loan, as he had ‘already gotten tired of moving from team to team’.
That’s why he now wants a ‘return to LaLiga’, and he wants to go back there permanently, with the belief that his exit could be sanctioned for a mere €7-8m.
Gil would reportedly ‘give priority’ to Sevilla, regardless of a lack of European competition, but they would need to reach a financial agreement with Tottenham, which is the hard part.
Mallorca could also be an option, as Javier Aguirre is in charge there and already knows him from their time at Leganés together.
He tried to convince Gil to move in January, but wasn’t able to, although he might have more luck in the summer, all depending on if they can afford him or not.
The player, down his end, believes his current manager ‘does not trust him’, and that’s why he wants to leave, dreaming of Sevilla, while Real Sociedad are ‘keeping a close eye on his progress’.
