There’s good and bad news for Tottenham today regarding the club potentially signing Jules Kounde from Sevilla.

Ahead of Nuno Espirito Santo taking over at Spurs, it was already reported the French defender would be a priority signing. Since then claims have only increased about the Premier League club being in the market for a central defender.

First, the good news.

Estadio Deportivo, a newspaper local to Sevilla, report it’s ‘clear’ Kounde is on the market this summer, with the La Liga club ready to listen to offers. All parties involved agree it’s ‘perhaps time to leave’ for the 22-year-old, despite him only arriving at the club in 2019.

Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest should they sell Raphael Varane, but Marca report Los Blancos will instead look for in-house solutions.

Now for the bad news.

It’s again reiterated that Kounde wants to sign for a team in the Champions League, and that ‘penalises’ Tottenham.

On top of that, Spurs planned offer ‘would not even reach €50m’ so it would be knocked back by Sevilla who refused more from Manchester City last summer.
