On Tuesday, we covered claims from Italy that Tottenham Hotspur could soon make an offer for Genoa star Radu Drăgușin.
Later that day, journalist Rudy Galetti stated the 21-year-old has agreed personal terms with Spurs. His fine displays for the Serie A side have seen him attract interest from clubs in Italy, including Napoli, and abroad.
Gianluca Di Marzio states Tottenham are in pole position but the Naples club aren’t ready to give up yet.
The north London club haven’t yet closed the deal with Genoa since there’s a difference between the two teams.
It’s claimed Tottenham have made a ‘verbal offer’ of around €22-23m, which is €12-13m short of the Italian club’s demand. That doesn’t make a great deal of sense, given previous claims have said Genoa want €25-30m.
Perhaps they’re now trying it on to force Spurs a little higher. Despite this, Ange Postecoglou’s side are ‘confident’ of completing a deal for the defender.
Walter Mazzarri’s side are unlikely to raise the offer. Therefore, Spurs could come close to sealing the deal, by making an improved proposal.
Drăgușin’s agent Florin Manea has told TV Play that he’ll listen to Tottenham if they were to agree a deal with Genoa. The representative mentioned this after revealing that Napoli haven’t contacted him so far.
“The future? Since I’ve been doing this job, I’ve never met a guy like him. He doesn’t care about money, he wants to have a great career. Napoli haven’t contacted me. He’s not convinced about leaving Genoa mid-season,” he said.
“In my opinion he’s perfect to play in England, his dream is to reach the Premier League. We haven’t seen any offers from Tottenham: if they then reach an agreement with Genoa, I’m ready to listen to them.
“In the only meeting I had with Tottenham, they only asked me about the boy’s character, because from a technical point of view they already knew everything.
“I have so much respect for Roma, I could never speak badly of them. Also, because I am negotiating a young striker with the Giallorossi. If big teams call you, you can’t say no, but I have a lot of respect for Genoa. His price tag is worth €25/30m. Genoa will ask for this figure, it could be a big coup for them to sell him for €25m.”
Taking Manea’s comments into account, Tottenham’s ‘verbal offer’ of around €22-23m is closer to Drăgușin’s asking price. Genoa could be playing games here, as could the agent, by saying his client isn’t convinced about leaving… so would obviously need convincing.
