Tottenham Hotspur are ‘leading the way’ for Sporting Club de Portugal midfielder Morten Hjulmand.
That’s according to Record, who report that Tottenham and other ‘sharks’ are preparing a bid for the midfielder. Getting him may not be an easy task, though.
The newspaper explains that Hjulmand has numerous suitors after an impressive three years in Portugal.
Some of the top clubs in Europe are monitoring the 26-year-old. Tottenham are among them. Some are even threatening an attack on him in the January transfer window.
Sporting resisted bids in the summer by striking an agreement with the midfielder to remain until the end of this season. Hjulmand will receive a cash bonus if that happens. They’re also sticking to an €80m clause in Hjulmand’s contract.
They’re expecting ‘headaches’ in the January transfer window despite that, though. Reports in England have stated that Tottenham are ‘keeping an eye’ on the midfield. Sporting are aware of that and certainly expecting some sort of bid.
Whether it’s from Tottenham or other suitors, remains to be seen. But Spurs are certainly seen as one of the sides who are interested in the midfielder as he continues to impress in Portugal.
