Tottenham Hotspur have shown ‘serious interest’ in a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Joao Palhinha this summer.
That’s according to BILD, who report that the midfielder still has an outstanding reputation in London and at Tottenham in particular.
Reports in England have made it clear that Tottenham are interested in the former Fulham man, something BILD have been able to confirm. They report that Thomas Frank’s side are ‘seriously interested’ in the Portuguese international.
The question is whether he wants to return to the Premier League. His sole year at Bayern Munich has not gone to plan but his intention is to try and establish himself with the German giants. This is despite numerous offers from England, Italy, Spain, Turkey and Portugal.
An absolute ‘top offer’ could change that stance and the fact that Tottenham can offer Champions League football would be a bonus on their behalf.
Bayern want €25m but for now Tottenham have shown more interest in a loan deal than a transfer after spending big on Mohamed Kudus, Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel. They’re also pursuing Mogan Gibbs-White in another potentially big money deal.
They do have a good relationship with Bayern, though, so perhaps that could be used to their advantage here.
