Chelsea and Tottenham are both ‘interested’ in Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba but will face a hard time getting him from the German side.
That’s according to SportBILD, who cover the defender today in a look at various Leverkusen players who could be on the move this summer.
Xabi Alonso’s side currently lead the Bundesliga by eight points after a superb campaign so far that’s seen them go unbeaten and take a commanding position at the top of the division.
Their superb performances mean that all eyes on are them at this moment in time, and several of their key players as well.
Tapsoba is one of those who has been impressing as he fits Alonso’s football perfectly and both Chelsea and Tottenham are ‘interested’ in the 25-year-old.
Getting him out of Leverkusen will not be an easy prospect, though. That’s because the defender signed a new deal until 2028 at the club in September 2023 and so have no need to sell.
Tapsoba is currently rated at €40m and that would be the minimum price that Leverkusen would start negotiations from, if they even accepted the idea of starting negotiations in the first place.
Whether Chelsea or Tottenham would be willing to spend such a figure, or even a figure above that, isn’t mentioned, just that they are interested in the defender as he continues to impress in Germany under Alonso.
