On January 17th, A Bola reported Tottenham Hotspur had a meeting Sporting on Monday to discuss a potential deal for Pedro Porro in the winter market.
It was also explained Spurs are very far from meeting the Portuguese club valuation, which is the right-back’s €45m release clause.
Despite the difference, Tottenham are not giving up on the 23-year-old and are in talks with the Eagles, according to Record. They have already offered €34m plus bonuses for the Spaniard, but Sporting are firm and referring to his clause.
Tottenham believe the €11m difference can be unblocked by including variables related to Porro’s performances, but this suggestion has been ‘outright rejected’ by Sporting.
Due to the current stalemate, the fullback will be available for selection for the next fixture on Friday. Sporting manager Rúben Amorim cannot breathe a sigh of relief because it is ‘possible to conclude the negotiations’ with Spurs for Porro’s sale before deadline day.
Antonio Conte is ‘putting pressure’ on the north London club’s board to ‘speed up the hiring of reinforcements’.
Should Tottenham fail to sign the player in January, he is likely to leave next summer.
Porro is trying to distance himself from the current situation, while he’s aware a move to Tottenham can see him earn €5m gross per year.
