AC Milan have been chasing Tottenham Hotspur’s Emerson Royal all summer.
Spurs had earlier rejected the Serie A side’s initial bid of €10m, after which Milan had put the deal on hold. They came back to the negotiating table a week ago, and made progress to try and sign the right-back.
On Tuesday, Gazzetta dello Sport said Milan have scheduled a meeting with Tottenham today to hold further talks for the 25-year-old.
Wednesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport brings the latest on the ongoing saga around Emerson and they have tried to make it sound like Milan are securing a bargain deal.
The Brazilian is keen on joining the Rossoneri and he spent the past few weeks convincing the north London club to sanction a move. At the same time, the newspaper says Paulo Fonseca’s side have made efforts to convince Tottenham to lower their request.
It’s claimed Ange Postecoglou’s side initially demanded €25-30m for the fullback, when Milan tabled a €10m bid. Spurs have lowered their demand and Gazzetta are giving the credit to Milan, without taking into consideration that Spurs had earlier requested €20m.
The deal could be closed for €15m [probably without bonuses], and Milan and Tottenham are ‘arguing over the last million, at the most last two’ to find an agreement. The newspaper believes the distance in valuation could be reduced during today’s meeting between the two clubs.
Milan are optimistic of agreeing a deal with the Premier League side, so that Emerson can seal a move to the San Siro.
