Tottenham Hotspur have already started talks with Barcelona to ‘formalise the transfer’ of Clément Lenglet, according to Sport.
The north London club took the defender on loan last summer at Antonio Conte’s insistence.
After showing the exit door to the Italian, Tottenham have seen their chief, Fabio Paratici, sanctioned by FIFA.
The crisis at the Premier League side slowed down the contacts for the defender. Despite this, Spurs have a firm desire to retain the 27-year-old as their internal report on him is excellent, both on personal and professional level.
Over at Barca, they don’t intend to extend the centre-back’s loan deal and want to cash in from his sale. Their absolute priority is to raise funds by offloading those players who are no longer part of their future project.
The Frenchman has ‘convinced’ Tottenham to make his stay permanent and Barcelona are ready to carry out his definitive sale. It’s said the Blaugrana and the English club ‘advance the transfer’ of Lenglet for €14m.
Sport focuses only on Barca and Tottenham’s ideas for the player. A good operation can take place, as long as Lenglet gives his approval, although there’s no mention about his stance on this deal in this particular report.
