Tim Steidten could be set for his first role back in football after leaving West Ham. FC Koln are now working to add him to their directors.
Sky Germany report the German club are ready to offer the former West Ham director of football a ‘director-level role’ at the club.
The outlet reports that concrete talks have already taken place between Tim Steidten and Koln regarding an agreement.
Koln have already scheduled another meeting with the German. He is keen on the move. On Monday, he turned down offers from Saudi Arabia and the Premier League. His desire is to return to the Bundesliga.
Return to Bundesliga
He previously worked in the division at Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen and now wants a third shot. It seems he does not intend for another shot at English football following his time at West Ham.
The Hammers job was his last in football, where he served as Technical Director. Now he could return in Cologne.
The German club want to broaden their leadership structure. Their current Managing Director of Sport Thomas Kessler is scouting the market for available candidates. Steidten is now considered a concrete option for them.
No West Ham repercussions
It appears his time in England, at West Ham, has not put the German side off a collaboration with him.
Observers largely regard that spell at West Ham as a failure. It was filled with high cost, expensive signings that did not work out and a very public falling out with David Moyes.
Indeed, reports indicated that Moyes had asked for Steidten to stay away from the Hammers training ground.
That was the extent of the break in the relationship between the West Ham manager and his director of football. Now Koln appear set to give him a shot at redemption in Germany, where he previously made his name.
